Jean-Pierre Gabriël

Jean-Pierre is a versatile musician. Both classical music as well as light music appeal to him very much. He likes to think out of the box and is always looking for connections between musicians and musical styles.

It gives him great satisfaction to inspire and encourage musicians using his enthusiasm, creativity and sense of humor.

Biography

Jean-Pierre Gabriel (1972) has a Master’s degree in orchestral conducting. He studied at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, the Netherlands. His teachers were Arjan Tien and Roberto Benzi. At the Royal Conservatory in The Hague he completed the Master’s degree with honor in music recording. Piano and trumpet, were his instruments.

Jean-Pierre is conductor of the Dordrecht Philharmonic, the Kennemer Consort from Heemstede and the Ridderkerk Symphony Orchestra.

As a guest conductor he conducted The Cathedral Brass, the North Netherlands Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, Ensemble Soloists of the Residentie Orkest and made his operatic debut in the Opera Macbeth. He was guest conductor with Harmonie Prinses Irene from Huizen and with the Regional Concert Orchestra Wilskracht Amersfoort.

Verder heeft hij tournees gedirigeerd in China, Spanje, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Oostenrijk, Slowakije, Polen en Hongarije.

Furthermore, he followed multiple international master classes, for example at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Music producer

After finishing the cum laude Master’s degree in music registration at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, The Netherlands, Jean-Pierre worked for the Dutch Public Broadcaster (NPO) Radio 4. He recorded many different performances in all the greatest concert halls in the Netherlands. He recorded all possible settings. From music originated from the 12th century to contemporary music. He used to make 150-200 recordings per year.

Furthermore, he recorded multiple, award-winning CD’s for different labels, orchestras and ensembles. The goal is always the same; to show the vision of the musician to the audience.

He developed new techniques for creating surround sound recordings.

He has also been connected to the Royal Conservatory and Sound Seminar as a (guest)teacher.

Muziekteacher

Jean-Pierre is involved in Music Education Wijdemeren and teaches grades 5 and 6 at primary schools. A first introduction to music and a musical instrument. He teaches trumpet and piano. He teaches trumpet at Globe Center for Art and Culture in Hilversum.

Radio Producer

He was a radio producer for the Dutch Public Radio 4. Making sure that the rich Dutch music scene was presented at the highest possible level to the listeners.

Not only in the Amsterdam, but throughout the whole country. Concerts of festivals, soloists, chamber music, ensembles, choirs and orchestras. Preferably live on Radio 4. This all had to be organized in a most efficient way to make sure the tax money is used most effectively.

Counselor

Jean-Pierre also did a course in Advanced Acoustics in Antwerp, Belgium, multiple training sessions at the Media-Academy and the Bachelor Electronics at Rens & Rens in Hilversum, the Netherlands.

He designed and build multiple recording studio’s.

Jean-Pierre was a member of the Committee ‘Music and Musical Theater’ of the Amsterdam Art Counsel.
